Doors

Six door types, endless configurations

Pick a starting point below. Species, panel layout, glass, stain and hardware are all yours to choose — nothing here is a fixed catalog item.

01 / Entry & Front Doors

Make an entrance

Solid 1¾" hardwood slabs with weather-rated finishes, optional sidelights and transoms. Built to hold their shape through Ohio winters.

02 / Sliding Barn Doors

Reclaimed character

Z-brace, chevron, or flat-panel slabs on flat-track hardware. We source local reclaimed oak and barn siding whenever we can.

03 / French & Glass Doors

Borrow the light

Divided-lite pairs in any grid you like, with true muntins and insulated or single glazing depending on where they go.

04 / Interior & Shaker

Whole-house sets

Two to five panel shaker and craftsman doors. Order a matched set for the whole floor and every reveal lines up.

05 / Pocket & Bypass

Doors that disappear

Flush slabs in rift-sawn oak with recessed pulls and soft-close hardware. Ideal for tight baths, pantries and closets.

06 / Dutch & Specialty

The unusual ask

Dutch doors, arched tops, curved rails, oversized 8- and 9-foot slabs, matching jambs and casing. If you can draw it, we can build it.

Why custom

Old houses don't have square openings. We build for the house you actually own.

A box-store door assumes a perfect 32×80 opening. Cleveland's century homes rarely cooperate. We measure the opening, account for the racking, and build the slab and jamb to fit it — no shimming a stock door and hoping.

  • Mortise-and-tenon joinery. Rails and stiles are pinned, not stapled. It's why these doors outlive the hardware.
  • Kiln-dried, hand-selected stock. We lay out the grain across the slab so the face reads as one piece of wood.
  • Finished in-shop, not on site. Six coats, sanded between, sprayed in a clean booth. No dust nibs, no fumes in your house.
  • We hang it ourselves. Installation is included anywhere in Northeast Ohio, hardware mortised and adjusted before we leave. Outside the region we crate and ship anywhere in the US.

The shop

Ready-made & in-stock doors

Doors we've already built, in standard sizes, ready to ship anywhere in the US or be picked up in Cleveland. Add what you want to your order and send it over — we confirm sizing, shipping and total before any payment is taken.

Don't see your size? Every door above can be rebuilt to your exact dimensions in any species — pricing usually lands within 10–20% of the listed figure. Send us your measurements and we'll quote it.

How it works

From first call to finished work

Step 01

Tell us about it

Send the form below with rough measurements and photos. We reply within one business day with questions and a ballpark range — no charge, no pressure.

Step 02

Measure & drawing

In Northeast Ohio we come out and measure the opening ourselves. Out of state, we walk you through measuring by phone. Either way you get a drawing and a fixed written price, and half down holds your spot in the build queue.

Step 03

Build & install

Four to seven weeks in the shop with photo updates along the way. Local doors we hang and adjust ourselves; out-of-area doors ship crated and freight-insured with shop drawings and a hanging guide.

Species & finish

Pick the wood before you pick the color

Stain sits differently on every species. We bring physical samples in your chosen wood, finished exactly the way your door will be, so you're never guessing from a screen — free with every local measure, or mailed to you anywhere in the US.

Standard species: white oak, red oak, hard maple, cherry, black walnut, mahogany, alder, poplar (paint grade), and reclaimed local barn wood.

What folks say

Neighbors, mostly

“Our 1918 opening was three-quarters of an inch out of square. The new walnut door closes with one finger.”
Marta K. · Ohio City
“Ordered eight interior doors at once. Every reveal on the second floor matches. The painters noticed before we did.”
Dan & Priya R. · Lakewood
“They talked me out of the more expensive species because it wasn't right for a south-facing entry. That's who you want building your door.”
Greg V. · Rocky River

Questions

Before you ask

What does custom work cost?

It depends entirely on the piece. As rough starting points: interior doors run $900–$2,400, solid hardwood entry doors $3,200–$8,500, mantels from about $1,200, dining tables from about $2,800, and kitchens are priced per run of cabinetry after we see the space. Stairs, railings and trim are quoted by the job. Either way you get a fixed written price before we start — never an open-ended bill.

How long does it take?

Four to seven weeks from deposit for most doors, mantels and furniture pieces. Ready-made doors from the shop section usually ship or can be picked up within a week. Full kitchens, stair packages and whole-house trim run longer — typically eight to fourteen weeks depending on the season and scope.

Do you install, or is that on me?

We install, and anywhere in Northeast Ohio it's included in the price — measuring, fitting, hardware mortised and everything scribed and adjusted on site. Outside the region we crate and ship anywhere in the US for your own carpenter to fit, and we send written shop drawings and an installation guide with it. Furniture ships assembled and finished, ready to use.

Can you match woodwork I already have?

Usually yes — this is a lot of what we do. Send a photo, or better yet give us a scrap of the original trim or an existing door, and we can often reproduce the profile exactly. Matching an old stain color takes a sample or two, and we bring those to you before committing to the whole job.

How does payment work?

Half down to reserve your build slot, balance on completion after you've inspected the work. Card, check, or bank transfer. Nothing is charged when you submit an order request here — we confirm details and send an invoice first.

What's the warranty?

Lifetime on our workmanship and joinery for as long as you own the home. Finishes are warrantied five years on exterior doors, ten on interior. Hardware carries the manufacturer's own warranty.
